Must-See Events at the 2023 ESE Kongress
Every year, the Embedded Software Engineering Kongress proves to be one of the most significant congresses for the embedded software industry. This year’s congress in Sindelfingen, Germany expects over 1,200 professionals to gather and catch up on current technologies, discuss trends, and set the course for the future in the embedded software development space.
As ESE Kongress says, it is a conference that is a convention with an “exclusive and extensive focus on the manifold issues and challenges with respect to development of device and system software” for industries including automotive, medical technology, consumer electronics, and many more. In this blog, we talk about a few key parts of ESE Kongress to keep an eye out for, as well as some fun you can have at the Perforce booth with Perforce Static Analysis brands Helix QAC and Klocwork!
Session: Popular C++ Coding Standards
With the full session title being “A Comparison of Popular C++ Coding Standards: Popular C++ Coding Guidelines in Automotive Software Development,” you will learn about coding standards that will keep your automotive software safe and secure.
Gain insight to improve C++ code quality with standards like MISRA®, AUTOSAR, and the C++ Core Guidelines, the three most popular coding standards among automotive professionals, according to the 2023 State of Automotive Software Development Report.
MISRA’s popularity is not surprising, given its automotive roots, and an upcoming version, MISRA C++:2023, will be released ahead of the conference with novel guidance for C++17 as a successor of AUTOSAR C++14. The new MISRA standard inherits many rules from AUTOSAR but does not refer to the C++ Core Guidelines directly.
While the C++ Code Guidelines standard has no apparent relationship with the automotive industry, it does cover the latest C++ language features that developers want to use. This standard is a living document under continuous improvement. AUTOSAR C++14 includes a comparison between the two standards that shows that 30% of the C++ Core Guidelines conflict with AUTOSAR rules.
Whether you are developing C++ software or checking code for quality assurance, join this session to get an in-depth comparison of various aspects of these C++ coding standards including philosophy, guidelines, enforcement, and claiming compliance.
This session by Dr. Frank van den Beuken is available on Tuesday, December 5, 2023 at 2:45 p.m.
