P4NAME
Deprecated!
Use p4 serverid instead of P4NAME
and use the server.id
file for starting servers instead of the deprecated option:
p4d -In name
Support for P4NAME
might be removed after the 2024.1 release.
To avoid configuration problems, the value of serverID
should always match the value of P4NAME if both are set. We
recommend setting serverID
, but support P4NAME
for backward compatibility.
A unique identifiable name for a
Helix Core Server. This configurable cannot be set globally. You must specify a serverID
.
P4NAME is used by p4 configure
as a means
of identifying servers. Unless a P4NAME
value has been specified for the server,
the server uses the
to determine the appropriate configuration

On Windows if there is no P4NAME
defined in the registry
for a service, it is picked up from the name of the service itself.
