Mainline streams

Every stream depot must have at least one mainline stream. It is common for a development stream and a release stream to be children of the mainline stream.

A development stream typically copies up to the mainline when a newly-developed feature is stable.

A mainline stream typically copies up to a release stream when development and testing are complete, so that your organization is ready to launch a release of a new product or a new product version, including a major, minor, or hotfix release.
