To add new files to a Perforce depot, first run open for add, then run submit. You can open files to be added in the current path, or in a subdirectory of the current path, by choosing Run->Open files for add... in the control panel of the Path Browser page.
The open for add command doesn't create new files -- -- it just puts them in a pending changelist. You can create the new files before or after you run open for add. (However, you don't have to worry about filetype selection if you create them before runnning open for add.)
The files you have opened for add aren't sent to the depot until you submit your pending changelist. The files must be present in your workspace to be submitted. If you decide you don't want to submit the files after all, you can use the revert command to remove them from your pending changelist.
Run->Open for add... takes you to a page where you list the files you want to add and select options to control how they will be added. After completing the form on the page, click "Open for Add" to open the files.
This version of P4Web requires you to enter filenames in a text field instead of dragging and dropping files or folders. If you have several files to add, you can use these shortcuts to save yourself some typing:
A file list you cut and paste this way may contain files that already have been added to the depot, and/or files you don't want to add. Files that already exist in the depot don't have to be removed from the list; Perforce simply won't open them. If the list contains non-Perforce files you don't want to add to the depot, you can remove them from the list before clicking the "Open for Add" button, or you can revert them after opening them.
Files can only be opened for add if:
