Use Go To->Settings to bring up a form that allows you to change your Perforce settings and P4Web preferences. Please note:

Return to browser

• You must click the "Save" button on the Settings page to store your new settings. Then click the "Return to browser" shortcut or use the Go To menu button to go to a different P4Web page with the new settings in effect.

• Using your browser's "Back" button after you click the "Save" button on the Settings page will not preserve settings. Instead, that takes you to back a page that uses your previous settings.

• Some settings and preferences are applicable only if you are using a P4Web Helper. They won't be visible to P4Web Viewer users.

Perforce settings

These settings control your interaction with the Perforce Server.

• Client -- the name of the client workspace you want to use. Use Go To->Client List to see a list of existing client workspaces. If you leave this blank, P4Web uses its startup environment to determine which client workspace to use.

Path Browser preferences

These settings control how files and paths appear in the Path Browser page.

• Show deleted files -- check this if you want files that have been deleted in the depot to appear in your Path Browser pages.

		Show files
		Hide files

• Show files as well as directories -- check this if you want the Path Browser to display files at the current path level as well as directories. This can also be reset with the "Show files" and "Hide files" shortcuts.

		Show recent activity
		Hide recent activity

• Show recent activity -- check this if you want the most recent changes to the current path or files to appear in the control panel of the Path Browser and File Browser pages. This can also be reset with the "Show recent activity" and "Hide recent activity" shortcuts. If you are working with a large depot, please see Reducing P4Web's impact on the Perforce Server.

Depot/client view

• Show entire depot client view only lets you choose how much of the Perforce depot is visible to you as you navigate through it. This setting can also be toggled with the "Depot/client view" shortcut.

  • entire depot makes all depot files and paths visible to you. This setting is also turned on if you click on a path link in a filelog or a submitted changelist.

  • client view only restricts visible files and paths to those mapped in your client view. This setting can reduce the amount of work the Perforce Server has to do for you. Use it when your Perforce depot is very large.

  Note that neither setting allows you to see depot files you don't have permission to see.

Back-in-Time Browsing®

• On -- click this button and enter a date or changelist number in the adjacent field to turn on Back-in-Time Browsing®. (For dates, use the format YYYY/MM/DD or YYYY/MM/DD:HH:MM:SS.)

• Off -- click this button to turn off Back-in-Time Browsing®.

Miscellaneous

• Page content limit -- controls how much text P4Web will send from the Perforce Server to your browser in a web page. Some browsers can get compute-bound trying to display very large pages. If this is a problem you have, try reducing the P4Web page content limit. This may also limit the amount of useful information you can see with P4Web but it will at least prevent your browser from swamping your workstation.

  When P4Web reaches the page content limit, it sends a message for your browser to display. If you find you are seeing the page content limit message often, try increasing the limit.

  The default page content limit is 1024K bytes.
