P4Web "result" Help Page

[Return to "How to Use P4Web"]

The result page displays the result of the last command executed. Typically, a result page consists of two parts:

Command:

The Perforce command line equivalent of the operation you've performed.

Result:

The output of the command, with lines reporting normal completion of the command in black, and any errors or diagnostic messages displayed in red.

(Not every "error" requires your intervention - for instance, when syncing selected files in your workspace, the output for files that needed to be synced will appear in black, and the output for files that were already up-to-date will appear in red.)

The contents of the Result page serve as a way for you to see what Perforce is doing behind the scenes; this is useful not only if you're dealing with Perforce support personnel, but also if you're interested in learning how to use the command line interface.
