The P4Web control panel, visible at the top of every P4Web page, offers shortcut buttons and drop-down menus. It also shows your Perforce configuration information, and in some cases, recent depot activity. Some of the shortcuts buttons and menu choices are available only if you're using a private P4Web Helper; they won't be visible to P4Web Viewer users.

Shortcut buttons

Drop-down menus

You'll find three drop-down menus in the control panel: , , and .

• offers you a selection of Perforce commands that will change the state of files in your workspace when you run them. This menu is available on the Path Browser and File Browser pages; see Help on those pages for more information. This menu also allows you to modify various specs (such as label, branch, and job). Because the Run menu allows you to run commands that can modify data, it won't be visible if you're using a P4Web Viewer or if you have Back-in-Time Browsing® turned on.

• gives you a selection of information that Perforce can show about the path or file you are browsing. This menu is available on the Path Browser and File Browser pages; see Help on those pages for more information. The Show menu is visible whether you are using a P4Web Helper or a P4Web Viewer.

• is always available. It lets you navigate to these P4Web pages:
  • Path Browser for the current path
  • Labels
  • Clients
  • Users
  • Branches
  • Depot Root (initiates depot browsing)
  • Settings
  • Server Info

  If you're using a P4Web Helper, you can also use Go To to navigate to these pages:

  • Pending Changelists
  • Edit Client Spec
  • Edit User Spec
  • Workspace Root (initiates workspace browsing)

Configuration settings

The banner at the top of the P4Web control panel shows the P4Web page you're on, and your current Perforce port, user, and client configuration settings. You can change the current client workspace setting by clicking Go To->Settings.

Recent activity

The control panel can be set to show the five most recent changes to the current file or path when displaying Path Browser and File Browser pages. Use either the "Show Recent Activity" shortcut button, or Go To->Settings to set this preference. If you are working with a large depot, please see see Reducing P4Web's impact on the Perforce Server.
